This is the first-ever coloured concept art of my character Blackjack.
Blackjack, or Jack for short, is a humanoid accordion drawn after the real Blackjack accordion from the 40s that I own in person.
He is built like a 40s (or generally mid-century) humanoid accordion robot with bellows placed in place of joints or flexible parts. He is made out of wood, bakelite plastic, cardboard and metal.
He is the first-ever accordion person to get an actual concept and a reference sheet (separately!) out of all the characters I’ve drawn.
It’s a simple piece of art, but definitely important. It’s not the best art of Blackjack that exists, but it’s the first colored one!

Ugly Pillow
The same drawing was used in the making of this hideous Temu ugly pillow. These ugly pillows are sold under the literal term ugly pillow because they are intentionally made ugly. It’s the most 2024-2026 thing EVER.
They made him fatter than he already is, he has got smooth hair like it was slicked with a ton of gel, and the look on his face looks inconvenienced and uncomfortable at best. This is a form of high art.
Facts about this piece
- The concept art of Blackjack was drawn BEFORE owning the real accordion. This also explains why the colours feel a bit more yellow in comparison to the real accordion. This was happening because I was simping for the accordion and wanted to draw a humanoid form for it, as seen in my article I’m Crushing On a 40s Accordion Named Blackjack.
- As his replacement key tooth suggests, there is a bit of a pirate thing going on with Jack (lore-wise, for the character). In fact, in the lore I made for the OC Blackjack, he was created in the 40s to entertain rich people with his musical dancing (accordion people make music not by singing, but by wiggling air through the reeds that are present inside their bodies). He didn’t enjoy being treated like an object and ran away, joining a team of other strange outcasts and object people before they all sailed away together on a pirate ship.
- The grille on his chest has a crest with music symbols. One needs to observe really closely, especially on the real accordion to be able to tell.
