This is another one of the sketches I had made inside my Filofax paper binder.
It’s a sketch featuring my character called Sol, who is a non-canon concept of a hypothetical child between my characters Mel and Mark.
He is very enthusiastic about his keytar and is also singing with his reeds through the gills on his neck. He is a helium-powered melodica person, as his parents are a helium based gas person and a melodica person.
He wears a very wide and chaotic grin similar to Mark’s characteristic teethy smile. He appears mischievous, yet also confident.
Facts about this piece
- It’s most likely that this character will never officially exist in canon.
- Characters will be paired with instruments that suit their personalities and tastes; Mark is sometimes drawn with keyboards, melodicas, or lately (June 2026), an accordion, to illustrate his vibrant and emotionally loud personality. Sol has a keytar because his music taste is 80s, and he is also bold and adaptable, but a bit less emotionally vulnerable than Mark.
- Melodica people are typically two-colored instead of solid colored all grey like gas people. In this case, Sol is grey and his second color is blue!
