This is one of my favourite doodles that I made inside my modded Filofax agenda. It depicts Mel singing while wearing his suit.
He has the shirt collar partially open because sound comes out of Mel’s gills primarily instead of the mouth only, unlike humans. His singing is visualised with air puffs drawn to escape from his gills.
He is holding an old-style microphone, and from the pose, he appears to be very immersed in the music. He is leaning forward slightly and is expressively holding out his hand. He is making a passionate expression with closed eyes of enjoyment.
Facts about this piece
- The notes drawn were made to supposedly resemble Al Bowlly’s Heartaches song. It’s a song I associate with Mel a lot.
- The cropped-out text on the agenda page features a mention of a close friend being excited to see me.
